Oculoplasty Surgery & Cosmetic Eye Surgery
Oculoplasty refers to eye plastic surgery and it involves plastic surgery of structures around the eyes like eyelids, eyebrows and orbit. Such surgeries can be reconstructive to correct any abnormalities or cosmetic surgeries to make yourself look more beautiful.
Oculoplastic surgeries are advised in following conditions like,
- Ptosis or droopy eyelids due to muscle weakness, trauma or ageing.
- Baggy eyelids or increased puffiness or swelling of lower lid due to fat prolapse giving a tired look.
- Excessive loose skin of upper eyelid.
- Brow lifts in case of sagging eyebrows.
- Eyelid tumors or lid cancers removal and lid reconstruction.
- Lacrimal sac surgeries in case of excessive watering.
- Thyroid eye disease which leads to proptosis (forward protrusion of eyeball) and lid retraction.
- Orbital surgery in case of orbital tumors.
- Orbital wall fracture repair in case of trauma.

Ptosis or Droopy Eyelids:
It is a condition where upper eyelids are drooped down making eyes look smaller in appearance. It can affect one or both upper lids and can be cosmetically unappealing.
Droopy eyelids can also obstruct vision when severe and can give rise to tired or aged appearance. Children may require early treatment to prevent lazy eye in future if it obstructs vision.
Ptosis can be congenital by birth or due to an injury to muscle, neuromuscular disorders or ageing.
Treatment of ptosis-

Neuromuscular disorders like myasthenia gravis also cause ptosis. Treatment in these cases is usually oral medications.
Blepharoplasty for Baggy Eyelids or Puffy Eyelids:
Blepharoplasty is the plastic surgery of the eyelids and involves removal of excess fat, skin or muscle around the eyes.
Eyelid bags or puffy eyelids are commonly seen in middle age to older age groups giving you older or tired look. Lower lid blepharoplasty is done in such cases to remove excess fat or skin by specialized Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Kamlesh Gupta to give you younger and beautiful look.
As one grows older, eyelid skin stretches and sags. Excess eyelid skin and fat is removed in upper lid blepharoplasty. Upper lid blepharoplasty surgery uses a hidden skin incision so that scar is usually not visible. While in lower lid blepharoplasty surgery, incision is either just below lash line to make it invisible or from inside the eyelid that is transconjuctival approach so that scar is not visible from outside.

Post-surgical downtime is usually 1week.

Artificial eyes and cosmetic eye surgery:
Artificial eyes are usually implanted in cases where the eye is lost due to trauma, infection, tumor or due to some congenital malformation. In such cases the damaged eye looks small, shrunken and spaces between eyelids or socket appears hollow giving an ugly appearance. Such cases require cosmetic eye surgery wherein damaged eye is removed and an orbital implant is placed followed by implantation of an artificial eye or ocular prosthesis once the eye heals.
Eyelid and orbital tumors-
As an Oculoplastic and orbital surgeon Dr. Kamlesh Gupta is also trained in surgeries involving eyelid tumor removal and lid reconstruction. He has also performed several orbitotomy procedures for orbital tumor removal with excellent surgical outcomes.
Entropion and Ectropion Surgery:
Entropion- here the eyelashes turn inwards and rub against the eye causing pain, redness and irritation. Entropion surgery is performed for such cases which gives immediate relief.
Ectropion- it is outward turning of lower eyelids leading to watery eyes, redness, corneal exposure. Ectropion surgery is performed for such cases along with lid tightening to prevent further recurrence.
Botox Injection:
It is very safe and minimally invasive procedure to treat wrinkles around the eyelids and foreheads. It gives a youthful look.
Botox injections are also indicated in conditions like hemifacial spasms or blepharospasm (excessive painful twitching of eyelids).
